Description
Sami Baaklini is a distinguished artist originally from Lebanon, born in 1946. Now residing in Montreal, he is a self-taught painter who has been creating art since childhood, producing his first self-portrait at the age of 13. Baaklini is known for his versatility and experimentation with various media, particularly oil and acrylic, which contribute to his unique artistic style.
His work has garnered international recognition, with exhibitions in countries such as Canada, the United States, France, Spain, Lebanon, and Mexico. Notably, Baaklini won the Best Drawing award in France in 1985 for his poignant piece titled “The Misery of War.” He also received first prize at a Quebec festival among artists from twelve Francophone countries in 1998. His artistic endeavors include creating large paintings for churches and portraits of notable personalities.
Baaklini’s art is characterized by fluid brush strokes and vibrant colors, reflecting the movement and sensuality of his subjects. His works are exhibited in various galleries and are part of numerous private collections.
