Description
Vagharshak Genrikhi Elibekyan is an accomplished Armenian artist born on January 22, 1961, in Kiev, Ukraine. In 1966, he relocated to Tbilisi, Georgia, where he began his formal artistic education at the age of seven in a children’s fine arts school, later continuing at a similar institution in Yerevan, Armenia.
Elibekyan’s career took off early when he held his first personal exhibition in 1973 in Titograd, Yugoslavia, showcasing his work at the children’s art center in Yerevan. In 1977, he entered the Yerevan Theatrical-Art Institute to study arts and crafts, concurrently participating in significant exhibitions, including one in Bonn, Germany. He graduated in 1982 and served in the Soviet Army, returning to work as a designer in various Armenian establishments post-demobilization.
Throughout the years, Elibekyan has exhibited his works internationally, including notable exhibitions in Montreal, Canada (1990), and Basel, Switzerland (1997), as well as in Barcelona in 2000. His art continues to gain recognition, with many of his pieces purchased for diplomatic collections, including works sent to the Armenian Consul in Brazil. Today, he actively exhibits his art weekly in various galleries across Yerevan, contributing to the vibrant art scene of the city.
